Helen Ayles is Professor of Infectious Diseases and International Health at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her research focuses on TB and HIV, with expertise in diagnostics, intervention design, and large-scale trials. As Director of Research at Zambart, she leads efforts to translate research findings into policy and practice. Professor Ayles holds an honorary NHS consultant post in Infectious Diseases and has over 25 years’ experience of conducting research in low- and middle-income countries. Her work emphasizes building Zambian capacity for clinical and epidemiological research, ensuring high international standards in trial conduct and oversight.
