Lets talk about support groups!!!
Project Insaka— was a pilot study aimed at providing psychosocial support to young women (15-24 yrs. old), who are living with HIV and/or are pregnant between 28 –32 weeks, through mobile phone technology. Project Insaka was peer led, enabling participants can give and receive advice in a safe and moderate space. Participants can communicate whenever and wherever.
Why did we select mobile phones as the tool?
Communication is immediate, therefore allowing for effective responses to questions and concerns when they arise. It is also considered an intimate form of communication, as well as accessible whilst enabling respect and diversity amongst individuals living with HIV.
The duration of the study was from July 2018 to February 2019. The funders included ViiV, Positive Action, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation and Every Woman and Every Child.
