#Zambart joined partners from across Zambia for a five-day Partner Launch Training and Curriculum Development Meeting aimed at strengthening healthcare capacity through the Project ECHO® model.
The meeting, held from 24 to 28 August 2026 at the University Teaching Hospital Infectious Diseases Hospital (UTH-IDH) in Lusaka, the five-day meeting provided an opportunity for healthcare professionals, researchers and partners to strengthen their understanding of the Project ECHO® model and contribute to the development of curricula for digital X-ray services and the SOFAR Peer-to-Peer Network
All SOFAR fellows based at Zambart participated in discussions on the development of a peer-to-peer ECHO network designed to connect emerging and experienced African researchers. Two postdocs -Dr Given Moonga and Dr Adam Silumbwe, two PhDs- Dr Sombo Fwoloshi and Dr Richard Mwapa and one MSc -Dr Emmanuel Mukambo were instrumental in developing a curriculum for an implementation science ECHO that will be launched in the future
The meeting was organised by the Zambia Ministry of Health ECHO Superhub, with support from the University Teaching Hospital HIV/AIDS Program (UTH HAP), as part of efforts to expand the use of the Project ECHO® model in Zambia. Imagining experts from the Lusaka, Eastern, Western and Southern Provincial Health offices, staff and management from Advance Care and Community Initiatives (ACCI) and other ECHO program partners attended the meeting.
The proposed ECHO curriculum will support healthcare workers with the skills and knowledge needed to make better use of digital X-ray services and strengthen the quality and clinical impact of diagnostic imaging.
