Macha Mission Hospital has once again reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a stigma-free facility with the unveiling of stigma billboards at the hospital

The initiative, which began in March 2025, has seen Stigma Champions at Macha Mission Hospital engage in activities including advocacy, staff training and other efforts aimed at reducing stigma within the facility. The billboard unveiling represents another step in this ongoing effort.

As the expanded Total Facility Approach (eTFA) project approaches its conclusion in the coming months, the hospital has been encouraged to take ownership of the initiative and sustain stigma-reduction activities beyond the project.

The initiative also carries an important message for clients, including adolescents, people living with HIV, people with tuberculosis and other members of the community that they should be able to access health services without fear of stigma or discrimination.

For Macha Mission Hospital, the goal is not only to display messages about stigma-free care, but to ensure that the message is reflected in how every client is treated with dignity, compassion and respect. The billboards are more than signage, they serve as a visible commitment to respectful, confidential and non-discriminatory care for everyone seeking services at the facility

eTFA is an evidence-based HIV stigma and discrimination intervention that is currently being implemented in six hospitals across Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia.
