Earlier today, the British High Commission paid a courtesy visit to Zambart to learn more about the organisation’s work and to engage with researchers implementing projects funded by the UK Government through the NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research).
The delegation was led by Development Director and Deputy High Commissioner, Simon ten Brinke-Jackson, accompanied by Dr Sarah Goldsmith, Regional Health Adviser in the Human Development Department at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), British High Commission Lusaka, and Dr Mulenga Chituma, Programme Manager.
Representing Zambart were Executive Director Dr. Kwame Shanaube and Research Director Prof. helen ayles, alongside members of the research team.
As part of the visit, Zambart Study Managers delivered presentations on several NIHR-funded studies currently being implemented by the organisation, including Point-of-Care Ultrasound for Tuberculosis (POCUS4TB) ,Community-Led and Community-Based Hearing Care, Yaba Guy Che (for the men) Adaptations to Strengthen Healthcare Delivery and Resilience to Extreme Weather Events in Southern Africa (ASTRA), and Nature4Youth.
The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to gain further insight into Zambart’s diverse research portfolio and the impact of UK-funded research initiatives being undertaken in Zambia.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Zambart House, where the delegation learned more about the organisation’s operations, research infrastructure, and ongoing commitment to improving health outcomes through evidence-based research.
